Niya Imani is a proper blend of sounds that immediately attracts the ears and touches the soul with an air of mystery. “I’m definitely a person you hear before you see,” Imani explains. Once you do hear the DMV standout though, one is drawn not only to the raw music but the person behind it. Niya Imani does everything, writing the lyrics, creating props for music videos, and having a hand in the art direction, she’s willing to put in the work and deliver. After releasing her debut project in 2020 and a brief hiatus in 2021 Niya says., “I’m really…getting back to the real reason I started taking music seriously: to have fun.” With more content, music, art and her debut performance on the way, now is the time to give Imani a spin. Growing up in the DMV singing was in Niya Imani’s DNA, “Honestly there has never been a moment in my life where I’m not singing,” she explains, “Anybody that knows me knows that I can’t EVER turn it off.” This all began with Niya’s mom, who had a deep interest in other cultures and made sure to pass down that knowledge to the future artist. Niya witnessed her mom performing in a plethora of venues from playhouses to embassies and this fueled Niya’s love for other cultures and art too. Eventually, she would land a job at a radio station in the DMV, where while working there she was still singing, so much so that her coworkers wanted the talented prodigy to take it more seriously. It wasn’t until three years later that the DMV artist would write their first song, when heartbreak struck. When one presses play on Niya’s music they're met with an eclectic artist who while fitting into the R&B genre, constantly pushes the boundaries with her unique sound. From love ballads to heartbreak music, from trap-infused anthems to hazy, cloudy tracks for the late night, Imani can make it all. Imani draws listeners in with her raw honesty that can be heard in every single track. “My music is based off of my real hard truths so all the highs and lows I speak on is facts and not just written to make a song sound good,” Imani explains. Her first two projects ‘Ambience’ & ‘Late Niyts’ show how far Niya’s vocal range goes and that she has the ability to create over any kind of production. These two projects and Niya Imani’s relentless talent in creating, has seen her & her art recognized by some of the best names in music history. With two projects under her belt, Niya Imani is immediately making an impact on music and the people that are listening. Imani’s soulful, emotional, passionate delivery draws people in not only to the music but her confident yet humble personality and sense of self too. Her peers have been taking notice along with the media at large. Both Ari Lennox & Summer Walker have given Niya Imani co-signs on her debut single “Meow”. Imani’s debut project ‘Ambience’ also hit #23 on the R&B Billboard charts and I want you to keep in mind that she hasn’t released a full-length project yet. With well over 140K streams under her belt, Niya Imani has proven she has the talent and appeal to cater to all kinds of tastes. As we hit the midway point of 2022, Niya Imani confirms she working on a bigger project set for the end of 2022/beginning of 2023 and will also be the debut of the DMV artist on stage.
